Crystal Sanctuary Archives

For nearly thirty years, the Crystal Sanctuary welcomed thousands of visitors who came to discover the remarkable qualities of quartz, explore the world of crystal instruments, and enjoy personal growth experiences in an exceptional natural setting.

The Sanctuary is renowned for its remarkable quartz vein and rich mineral deposits, making it a truly unique site in Canada. Each summer, workshops brought together discovery, learning, meditation and shared experience in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. As of 2020, workshops are no longer being offered.

The photographs on this archival page are a glimpse into those years. They recall the people, the experiences and the teachings that shaped the history of the Sanctuary.

The Magic of Crystals

This workshop invited participants to discover the fascinating world of quartz crystals and to develop a deeper awareness of their energy.

Throughout the day, participants learned to recognize the different families of crystals, use them in meditation, harmonize the body's energy centres (chakras). Additionally, they become familiar with a variety of crystal tools, including pendulums, crystal wands, spheres, malas and crystal skulls. The experience also included a walk through the crystal labyrinth, located beside the quartz deposit.

The Crystal Didgeridoo

The crystal didgeridoo is a unique instrument that combines the ancient tradition of the Aboriginal peoples of Australia with the vibrational qualities of quartz.

Participants learned the fundamentals of playing the instrument, including the crystal breath, circular breathing and the production of its distinctive sounds. The workshops also explored how the didgeridoo's deep vibrations could encourage relaxation, well-being and pure awareness.

Crystal Singing Bowls

Crystal singing bowls produce pure, resonant tones that naturally invite inner peace.

Participants discovered the different models, their unique characteristics and the techniques used to play them harmoniously. Particular emphasis was placed on their use as tools for relaxation, inner balance and meditation.

The Crystal Harp

The crystal harp is both a musical and meditative instrument, celebrated for the purity of its sound.

Participants explored its history, its construction, the properties of quartz and the different playing techniques. The workshop also included meditation sessions, musical improvisation and the performance of simple compositions

Mala & Mantra

For thousands of years, the mala has accompanied the recitation of mantras in many spiritual traditions.

During this workshop, participants discovered the meaning of the mala's 108 beads, its use in the practice of japa (mantra repetition), and the different ways a mantra may be recited: aloud, softly or silently within.

This practice encouraged mental calm and sustained attention. Particular attention was also given to the crystal mala, used to strengthen intention, the energy of the voice and the quality of meditation.

Planetary malas, made from different varieties of quartz—clear quartz, amethyst, citrine, and others—were also presented. According to this tradition, each stone is associated with a particular planetary energy, and each planet with a specific mantra. The practice of japa using these malas was intended to awaken and harmonize these energies.
